Dog Policy
At the Glacier, we are dog lovers and we understand your dog is a true family member. We are delighted to provide some comforts of home for your dog during your stay at the Glacier. Grindelwald is an ideal destination with lots of year round hiking options and free transport (bus, cable-car, train) for your furry friend.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional charge. While our rooms are spacious, no more than one dog is allowed per room. When booking, let us know you’ll have a dog travelling with you. The Glacier provides the following dog amenities upon request: bed & water bowls.
Hotel
Be sure to keep your dog on a leash (and hold the leash) or in a carrier while inside the hotel. In consideration for other guests, please clean up after your pets and keep them within your direct control at all times. For hygiene reasons, dogs are not allowed in the breakfast area, fitness area, the laundry room, or in the spa.
Room
Please contact the front desk to arrange a time for housekeeping and take the opportunity to go for a walk with the dog during the cleaning process. For your dog’s well-being, we require that they not be left unattended all day. Please contact the reception desk in advance to make arrangements if you require a dogsitter or dog walking services. These services are available in Grindelwald through Dogness, our pet partner (additional charges apply).
Liability
Your dog may remain alone in the room for a few hours, so long as it is well-behaved. If your room requires excessive cleaning, or if damages are incurred as a result of your pet’s actions, the hotel may charge for additional services and repairs. We also count on you to prevent your pet from making excessive noise, being disruptive or aggressive to other guests. If your pet is deemed dangerous, harmful, or disruptive, we have sole discretion to require you to find another accommodation.
Dogs in Grindelwald
Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash in the village, but allowed to walk freely on paths and trails. It goes without saying that the local wildlife (chamois, deer, marmots) as well as cows, goats and sheep must be taken into account, not only to protect the animal world, but also to protect your dog and yourself. Dog owners are obliged to dispose of their dog’s droppings – be it in the village, in the field or in the forest – in a manure bag and special waste container. In the village there are in many places such containers with red bags.
We wish you and your dog a lot of fun in the Boutique Hotel & Restaurant Glacier!
